Triphala Capsules — Organic Three-Fruit Ayurvedic Blend in Pullulan Vegetarian Capsules
Triphala is one of the oldest and most foundational formulas in Ayurvedic tradition — a blend of three fruits that has been used in classical Ayurvedic practice for thousands of years. Our capsules contain one thing: a traditional equal-ratio blend of organic Amla, Haritaki, and Bibhitaki, encapsulated in a pullulan vegetarian shell.
No fillers. No binders. No additives. Just the three fruits, as the formula has always been.

The Three Fruits
Amla — Emblica officinalis (Amalaki)
Also known as Indian Gooseberry, Amla is one of the most revered fruits in Ayurvedic tradition. It is considered a Rasayana botanical — a rejuvenating tonic — and is the central fruit in the Triphala formula. Amla is valued for its naturally occurring Vitamin C content and has been used in Ayurvedic practice for centuries as both a food and a botanical preparation.
Haritaki — Terminalia chebula
Haritaki is sometimes called the "King of Medicines" in Tibetan and Ayurvedic traditions. It is one of the three fruits of the Triphala formula and has been used across South and Southeast Asian traditional medicine systems for thousands of years. Classical Ayurvedic texts describe it as a primary Rasayana herb, particularly associated with the Vata dosha.
Bibhitaki — Terminalia bellirica
Bibhitaki is the third fruit of the Triphala formula. Its name in Sanskrit means "fearless of disease" — a reflection of how highly it was regarded in traditional Ayurvedic practice. It has been used across South Asia in traditional botanical preparations and is associated in classical texts with the Kapha dosha.
What Is Triphala?
"Tri" means three, "phala" means fruit — Triphala is literally the three-fruit formula. It appears in classical Ayurvedic texts including the Charaka Samhita and Sushruta Samhita, making it one of the best-documented formulas in the Ayurvedic tradition. It is considered a Tridoshic formula — one that is classically described as balancing to all three doshas (Vata, Pitta, and Kapha).
The formula is typically prepared in equal parts by weight. Our capsules follow this traditional ratio: one-third each of Amla, Haritaki, and Bibhitaki.
Why Pullulan Capsules?
Pullulan is derived from tapioca — a naturally fermented, plant-based material. Unlike gelatin capsules (which are animal-derived), pullulan capsules are suitable for vegetarians and vegans and have lower oxygen permeability than most capsule materials, which helps preserve the botanical contents. We use pullulan across our entire capsule line.
Sourced Through Direct Relationships
Our botanicals are sourced through direct supplier relationships developed during sourcing trips to India. We do not source from distributors or catalog suppliers. Every batch begins with knowing where the material came from.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the ratio of the three fruits?
Traditional equal parts — one-third each of Amla, Haritaki, and Bibhitaki by weight. 500 mg per capsule total.
Is this certified organic?
Yes. All three fruits in the blend are certified organic.
What is pullulan and why do you use it?
Pullulan is a plant-derived capsule material made through natural fermentation of tapioca. It is vegetarian, vegan, and has lower oxygen permeability than standard HPMC or gelatin capsules, which helps protect the botanical contents.
Is there anything else in the capsules?
No. The only ingredients are organic Amla, Haritaki, and Bibhitaki powder (500 mg total per capsule) and the pullulan capsule shell. No fillers, binders, or flow agents.
How is Triphala Capsules different from Triphala Powder?
Same formula, different format. The capsules offer a convenient pre-measured serving. The loose powder allows you to add it to warm water, tea, or other preparations in the traditional way.
