Ashwagandha Capsules — Organic Ashwagandha Root in Pullulan Vegetarian Capsules

Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) is one of the most foundational herbs in Ayurvedic tradition — a Rasayana botanical used for centuries as a whole-root tonic for vitality, resilience, and endurance. Our capsules contain one ingredient: organic Ashwagandha root powder, encapsulated in a pullulan vegetarian shell.

No fillers. No binders. No extract concentrates. Just the whole-root botanical as it has been used for thousands of years.

At a Glance

  • Botanical name: Withania somnifera
  • Part used: Root
  • Form: Organic Ashwagandha root powder
  • Region of origin: India
  • Capsule shell: Pullulan (plant-based vegetarian capsule — no gelatin)
  • Other ingredients: None
  • Sizes available: 30-count, 60-count

Why Pullulan Capsules?

Pullulan is derived from tapioca — a naturally fermented, plant-based material. Unlike gelatin capsules (which are animal-derived), pullulan capsules are suitable for vegetarians and vegans and have lower oxygen permeability than most capsule materials, which helps preserve the botanical contents. We use pullulan across our entire capsule line.

A Traditional Ayurvedic Root — Whole and Unmodified

Many Ashwagandha products on the market use standardized extracts — concentrated preparations designed to hit specific percentage thresholds. Our capsules take a different approach: organic Ashwagandha root powder, ground from the whole root, the way this herb has been prepared in traditional Ayurvedic practice for centuries.

This is a whole-root botanical. No concentration ratios. No standardization language. Just the root, cleaned, dried, and powdered.

Sourced Through Direct Relationships

Our botanicals are sourced through direct supplier relationships developed during sourcing trips to India. We do not source from distributors or catalog suppliers. Every batch begins with knowing where the material came from.

Lab Testing & Certificate of Analysis

Every batch we carry is tested before it ships. We make the results available so you can verify what you're purchasing.

What Is Ashwagandha?

Ashwagandha is one of the most widely studied botanicals in Ayurvedic tradition. Known in Sanskrit as "the smell of a horse" — referencing both its earthy aroma and its historical association with strength and vitality — it has been used as a Rasayana herb (a rejuvenating tonic) in classical Ayurvedic texts for thousands of years.

It belongs to the nightshade family (Solanaceae) and grows throughout India, North Africa, and the Mediterranean. The root is the part used in traditional preparations, typically taken with warm milk, ghee, or honey in classical Ayurveda.

How to Use

  • Suggested use: Take 1–2 capsules daily with water, warm milk, or as directed by your healthcare practitioner.
  • When to take: Can be taken morning or evening — consistent daily use is the traditional approach.
  • With food: Taking with a small amount of food or a fat source is consistent with traditional Ayurvedic preparation methods.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a standardized extract?
No. These capsules contain organic Ashwagandha root powder — the whole root, powdered. No extraction, no concentration ratio, no standardized percentage. This is a traditional Ayurvedic root preparation.

What is pullulan and why do you use it?
Pullulan is a plant-derived capsule material made through natural fermentation of tapioca. It is vegetarian, vegan, and has lower oxygen permeability than standard HPMC or gelatin capsules, which helps protect the botanical contents.

Is this organic?
Yes. The Ashwagandha root powder in these capsules is certified organic.

How is this different from KSM-66 or Sensoril?
KSM-66 and Sensoril are branded, standardized Ashwagandha extracts. Our product is not an extract — it is whole organic Ashwagandha root powder with no standardization or concentration. Different approach, different product category.

Can I open the capsules?
Yes. The powder inside is the same organic Ashwagandha root powder — you can add it to warm beverages, smoothies, or use it in traditional preparations if you prefer.
